We’ve flown our fair share of brushed micro drones:  QX70, Hubsan X4, Bat QX105, Frog Q90, Inductrix, E011, Zoopa Riot and even the original QX90. The QX90c is the best of the bunch. It is light, fast and responsive. Right now you can get it for under $30. It is a complete steal.

The QX90c is the leader of the brushed FPV pack

What makes it better than the rest?

The QX90c is lighter than the original QX90 but has the same 8520 brushed motors. It has a well-balanced design and the plastic yellow frame is durable enough to withstand a few crashes. Eachine decided to ditch the Hubsan style propellers for a more aggressive Ladybird design. The F3 flight controller has the receiver built into it, so you save space with its all-in-one design. The motors aren’t soldered on, but rather use connectors so you can quickly replace them with new ones if need be.

QX90c vs QX90
Take a look at the QX90c from above

The camera isn’t the highest quality, but it certainly gets the job done. The placement of the camera is perfect and the seemingly inexpensive rubber band keeping it in place actually is a genius idea. It allows the camera to take an impact without getting destroyed. This is unlike some of the more permanent mounts on other micro quads we’ve flown.

The QX90c is Cleanflight compatible and many people have upgraded it to run the newest version of Betaflight. Either way, this machine is tunable and you can fly it in angle, horizon and acro mode. You can get one with a Frsky, Spectrum or Flysky receiver. The model we tested was a Frsky and we used the versatile and affordable Taranis QX7.

Eachine and Taranis
We bound our QX90c to a Taranis QX7.

You can fly the QX90c both indoors and outdoors. It can handle a light breeze outside and isn’t too powerful or heavy that it will destroy things indoors. Once you master the QX90c you’ll want to move up to a brushless drone. We recommend the DYS Elf or one of the King Kong Micros.

If you are stuck flying indoors and find the QX90c too powerful or too large for tight places take a look at the E011. The E011 converts a tiny whoop style FPV fairly easily.
