Redpawz Blast R020

The Redpawz Blast R020 an unabashed copy of the Ryze Tello. I often wonder where these smaller drone makers come up with these names. Why not just be forthcoming? Don’t pretend you aren’t trying to capitalize on the Tello’s success, embrace it. We once tested a Dobby imposter called a Dobbin, they had the right idea. Call it the Schmello or the Pello or the Flyze Jello…

Take a look at the Ryze Tello from above, can the R020 compare?

Anyway, how does the R020 stack up against the Tello? Let’s take a look. The Jello, I mean R020 has three advantages over the Tello. It is cheaper, the camera angle is tiltable and it has a physical remote. After that, the Tello is a superior drone, but only if things like stability and video quality matter to you.

The tilting camera is something the actual Tello cannot do.

What is the RedPawz R020?

If you are looking to save money and want a decent starter drone, then the Schmello, I mean R020, is a good option. It has a decent 2 MP camera and optical hold stability. You’ll get WiFi FPV, three speeds and the ability to do flips. It also will have headless mode, one-key take off and landing as well as return to home. Don’t plan on using return to home unless you are a gambler. Sometimes it will return to you, and sometimes it will go where ever it feels. It will be on par with most $50 drones, but won’t stack up to the actual Ryze Tello.

Overall the Redpawz R020 is a pretty good drone. It has WiFi FPV via a free smartphone app and the drone will take decent pictures and video. It is a solid option for a first-time flyer.

If you want something inexpensive that is a decent drone and want to save some money then take a look at the RedPawz R020. If you want the absolute best for under $100 then we’d suggest taking a look at the Ryze Tello. The R020 costs about half as much as the Tello and we’d say it is about half as good.
