Bugs 8: The Ready-to-Fly Racer from MJX
MJX Bugs 8: The Next Logical Bug
MJX first released the Bugs 3 drone as a minimalist but relatively powerful brushless hobby drone. Then came word of the upcoming Bugs 2, which will come with an integrated camera and GPS. Why does the Bugs 2 come after the 3? Who knows? Logically, the next Bugs would be the Bugs 1, right? No. MJX continues the Bugs naming randomness by jumping to the Bugs 8. The Bugs 8 is out and its a fun entry level FPV racer. And it turns out MJX has also released the Bugs 6 and the Bugs 9, which also happen to be entry FPV racers. (Spoiler: They are all the same.)
An RTF Racer…
The Bugs 8 is billed as a 250mm brushless racing drone. The Bugs 8 should be able to run on 3S batteries like the Bugs 3 and that would make it an excellent starter drone for someone looking to get into fast brushless motor drones. It won’t be on par with DIY builds or our favorite entry racer, the DYS XDR220, but it should be a good stepping stone towards a faster racing quad.

Features We’d Love to See
The Bugs 8 looks to have two bright LEDs that give the Bugs a fun buggy look. It looks like MJX includes an optional 5.8G FPV camera and transmitter. It seems there are even plans to include an FPV screen and possibly an FPV headset. These items will most likely be sold separately.
There are very few all-in-one FPV solutions out there and we are hoping that the Bugs 8 joins the ranks for the DYS XDR220 and the Inductrix FPV. We wished you could actually fly it like a racer, which means access to advanced “horizon” and “rate” flight modes.

Should I Get a Bugs 8?
If you aren’t sure about the Bugs 8 then you can check out the Bugs 2 or the versatile Bugs 3. The Bugs 3 is a versatile drone, capable or carrying a 360-camera or even an electronic 2-axis gimbal. It even is powered by the same motors the Bugs 8 will race with. Learn more about the Bugs 3 here.
