We now have new leaked images of the Mavic Mini along with some new specs and confirmation of previous leaks. Just a few days ago, leaks from a Best Buy influencer site were spread around the drone world. Today, the leaks come courtesy of Newegg Canada. We have some clues that DJI is trying to leave some room for the Mavic Air, but from the looks of it, the Mavic Mini will be a Mavic Air killer. Keep reading for fully rendered images and updates on the pricing.
Mavic Mini Size
Again we see that the Mavic Mini will be tiny. From the leaked measurements I think they are using someone with a rather large hand, but then again, maybe not? From the original leaks that had dimensions shown, the body of the drones looks to be about 150 mm (5.9 inches) long. If that’s correct, it would fit in my hand, but it wouldn’t look quite as small as the newly-leaked renderings.
More importantly, we again have confirmation of the 249-gram weight. This is a real achievement, and it confirms that the size of the drone may be smaller than I originally expected. This is small enough that under current US law you don’t need to register the drone. That’s not that big of a deal, it just costs a few bucks. In some countries, like Canada, it is a much bigger deal. Being under 250 grams allows pilots much more freedom in Canada.
You can see that the Mavic Mini isn’t actually much smaller than the Mavic Air, but it is small enough to make a big difference. The Mini is, infact, tiny compared to the Mavic 2.
Mavic Mini Leaked Specs
The following specs are listed in the new leak.
- 249g Ultralight
- 30-min Max. Flight Time
- 4 km HD Video Transmission
- Vision Sensor + GPS Precise Hover
- 3-Axis Gimbal 2.7K Camera
- Simplified Recording & Editing
The most important is the 4 km (2.5 miles) range. This matches the range of the Mavic Air. I think the Mavic Air is all but dead. I would never buy it now that the Mavic Mini will be available. The Mavic Mini clearly beats the Mavic Air, with an identical range, the same sensor size, 10 minutes extra of flight time, and a much lower price. Your average consumer doesn’t care about 4K recording (nor should they).
Mavic Mini Leaked Price
The listing on Newegg Canada is for the fly more combo, and it is $646. But that is $646 Canadian, which is about $494 US. Throw in a 15% tariff and you are at $568 US. So, we should expect the fly more package to be somewhere between $499 and $599. Suddenly, it isn’t looking so cheap. But it is a much better deal than the $919 Mavic Air and is about half the price of the $1149 Mavic Air fly more combo.
