EXO Mini Pro

EXO Mini Pro | New Mini Drone on the Block

The new EXO Mini Pro is a new and exciting alternative to the DJI Mini 2 and Mini 3 Pro. It offers similar specs to the $750 DJI Mini 3 Pro but is $100 less expensive. EXO drones has partnered with Hubsan to bring this sub-250 gram drone to the market. The underpinnings of the EXO Mini Pro are the same as the Hubsan Zino Mini Pro. As an added bonus EXO is a USA-based company with customer support based in Utah.

The EXO Mini Pro is set to be another option for people looking for a drone that weighs less than 250 grams. It has some impressive specs that will put the DJI Mini 2 to shame. The specs below come directly from Hubsan which has partnered with EXO to bring us this mini drone:

  • 1/1.3 inch CMOS image sensor
  • 48M pixels
  • 2.4um mixed large pixel
  • f/1.85 super large aperture
  • 6X zoom
  • HDR mode
  • 4K/30fps H.265/HEVC
  • 200Mbps
  • Syncleas.3.0 1080P/30fps
  • 10KM range
  • Wireless bandwidth 20Mbps
  • Max flight time 40 minutes
  • only 249g
  • Front/Back/Down 3D space perception vision obstacle avoidance
  • ATVT 3.0 AI Tracking

Getting a small sub-250 gram drone with a 40-minute flight time would be impressive. Adding obstacle avoidance sensors to this drone helps put it into another class.  These two features alone would make this drone a certain DJI Mini and Xiaomi Mini killer. With a 10,000 meter range, this is an impressive quadcopter. Now don’t get your hopes up on this 40-minute flight time. It isn’t achievable. Getting 30+ minutes is more realistic.

The 1/1.3″ sensor is intriguing as is the 48 MP claim. It is really a 12 MP sensor that we believe is similar to the Quad-Bayer type sensor that ups the pixels to 48. The HDR is likely a product of that. The EXO Mini adds all the flight modes you were looking for like follow me, orbit, waypoints and more.

Too good to be true?

This drone on paper is superior to the DJI Mini 2 and nearly on par with the Mini 3. However paying more for it, even with obstacle avoidance and follow me might not be the best option. This is a good drone, we do like it. However, the less expensive Mini 2 is a proven commodity and more reliable. Don’t forget there is the $299 Mini SE and that is one heck of a drone for the money. Hubsan and EXO partnering on this drone is a good thing for sure and the future is bright for both companies. Creating competition is good for consumers and now we have another good mini drone option.

Mini Drone comparison chart

Take a look at the chart above  to compare the specs of the EXO/Zino Mini Pro to the other Mini drones on the market. On paper it compares quite well. It is one of three that has obstacle avoidance and has some impressive flight modes that other mini drones lack. It isn’t quite as refined as the DJI or Autel mini drones but it is less expensive.
