DJI is working hard behind the scenes on the upcoming Mavic Mini 2. What do we know? What will it be? When will it arrive? We have some details.
DJI Mavic Mini 2
There is a lot of speculation out there about the DJI Mavic Mini 2 and what it will be. OsitaLV is Twitter famous for his DJI leaks and he has put out a few pictures of the soon to be released drone. Nothing yet has been confirmed but it looks like the Mavic Mini 2 will arrive sometime this November. That would seem to be just in time for the Christmas season.
Mavic Mini 2 Specs
Again nothing here is confirmed but it is very likely that the Mini 2 will have a 4K camera instead of the 2.7K camera that is on the original. We are hoping for a larger sensor and a higher bit rate. The camera is probably similar to that on the newly released Pocket 2 and probably has a similar design style with the red ring around the outside lens.
We have also seen photos of rear sensors. It isn’t likely to only have rear sensors so logically it could also have front sensors as well. That would open the door for obstacle avoidance as well as adding more active track modes like follow me.
We would love to see Occusynce on this little drone, but it will likely still be more of an enhanced Wifi. The original Mavic Mini just got a firmware that increased its range and that is likely the same technology we will see on the Mavic Mini 2. Perhaps it gets refined a bit and with a new and better controller, it should have better connectivity and range. I’d expect to see the controller looking more like the new Mavic Air 2 version than the original Mavic Mini.
We know that the battery is actually going to be a little smaller. That may be to accommodate more hardware such as sensors or cooling equipment because the Mavic Mini 2 would require a much more capable processor. These potential upgrades will likely come at a cost and sources believe this new Mini will be more expensive than the original with the base price starting at $449 and the Fly More package costing $699.
