4DRC Elf | What is the best drone under $50?

The 4DRC Elf is a no-frills beginner drone that you can buy for less than $30. There are a handful of different options and battery packages for this tiny little quadcopter. The cameraless version starts at $29.99 and the version with a camera and three extra batteries will cost you $48. If you are looking for a drone to learn to fly on, or a gift for someone this is a decent place to start. Make sure you check out the coupon code at the bottom and save even more!

I actually recommend the version without the camera. The camera claims to be a 6K ESC camera. It isn’t. It isn’t 6K by any stretch of the imagination. It is unstabilized, upscaled low quality video. Any time you see ESC next to a camera spec, run. ESC refers to an electronic speed controller. This is something unrelated to cameras and something for whatever reason Chinese manufacturers miss in translation.

The 4DRC Elf is a small folding drone with a unique carrying case. You remove the gimbal sticks, fold the drone up and it stores on the controller with a plastic cover. It is a nice little feature. The 4DRC drone is relatively stable and utilizes altitude hold to help manage throttle and altitude control. The motors are brushed and won’t handle wind well.

You can flip the drone with a push of a button and there is also one-button take-off and landing. There is no GPS return to home. The 4DRC V20 Elf has a flight time of up to 15 minutes and a range of up to 300 meters. This drone isn’t going to compete with the DJI Mini series of drones but is a good beginner drone to learn how to fly with. Use the code BG28c218 at checkout and save $3-$8.
